Introducting #Haute - mascot of the 2018 edition

Who is Haute?

#Haute, Aubrac, mascot of # SIA2018

Haute, a 6 year old Aubrac cow, can be recognised by her wheat-coloured coat, eyes that seem to be made up with eye-liner, and her very distinctive expression.  She grew up in Laguiole, on the high volcanic Aveyron plateaus.  Thibaut Dijols, breeder of our mascot at Curières [12], is proud to fly the flag for the Aubrac breed at the 2018 edition of the International Agricultural Show.

Born in 2012, Haute had her first calf at 3 years old and since then has contributed every year to the renewal of the herd of 130 Aubrac cows on Thibaut Dijols' farm.  Daughter of Venice and Bijou, a bull who finished 2nd in the "Concours Général Agricole" in 2010, her genetic heritage means she is recognised today as one of the best Aubrac cows.  “Haute is curious, sociable and even a little proud. She is the real lady in the herd!”, Says Thibaut.

“Coming to the Salon in Paris is a great opportunity to talk about the breed that we represent, its breeding qualities and its development potential. » Thibaut Dijols

Thibaut and Florence, #Haute's breeders

Thibaut and Florence's farm is located in the historic birthplace of the Aubrac breed.  Thibaut, who grew up on the family farm, has been able to acquire real expertise in the breed over the years and keeps the tradition going along with his wife Florence, also an Aubrac breeder, who joined him on his farm in 2016.

For Thibaut, there is no better reward than seeing his cow selected to represent the Aubrac breed at the 2018 International Agricultural Show.  It is a reward for all the work carried out down through the generations on his farm.  This selection also allows the couple to make the Aubrac breed, their farm and their territory better known by the general public.  Haute was carefully selected by Thibaut as the perfect ambassador for her breed, as she possesses all the typical characteristics of the Aubrac breed.

The Aubrac breed - rustic and independent

A rustic suckling breed, Aubracs were already present in the volcanic mountains of the southern Massif Central from the 18th century.  Today, the breed is expanding and experiencing something of a golden age, in particular thanks to its breeding qualities and to its hardiness, which makes it geographically very versatile.  In addition, the Aubrac is highly fertile, calving easily each year and regulating its feeding requirements by breastfeeding its calf.  All these characteristics mean the Aubrac breed is attracting more and more French and foreign breeders, actively contributing to the international influence of French genetics.
