Paris International Agricultural Show : an unusual year!

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic and all of the restrictions, obligations and constraints that it has meant for staging events and shows, CENECA has agreed to COMEXPOSIUM's proposal to postpone the Paris International Agricultural Show – initially scheduled to run from 27 February until 7 March 2021 – until 2022.

Jean-Luc Poulain, Chairman of CENECA said: "Although we are disappointed, the pandemic means that we all have to adopt a responsible attitude in relation to our exhibitors, corporates, teams and – of course – the visitors. We cannot risk the event being cancelled by the public authorities and all the consequences that that would mean for everyone. We are all too worried to attempt to put on an event that would only lead to disappointment".

The organising team is working on putting together some sort of event or events which, without actually replacing the Show, would give a voice to the agricultural sector and enable it to be heard.
"For more than 50 years, the end of February has been when agriculture in France has been showcased. Unfortunately, we will not be able to stage the event in its usual format in 2021. But we are doing everything we can to showcase this sector – one which plays such a vital part in our everyday lives – in a way that is appropriate”, says Valérie Le Roy, the Show’s Director.

Regarding the General Agricultural Competition, France's Ministry for Food and Agriculture and CENECA, the competition’s co-owner, have decided to stage the product and wine competition under conditions which will be made public soon. The animal competitions will be postponed until 2022. We still have to assess the feasibility of the competitions for young people and agro-ecological practices.

The Paris International Agricultural Show is a major event for farming in France, as well as being an opportunity for original and essential meetings for all stakeholders. For this reason, we are very keen to stage it in a different way during this peculiar period!
